College Night a Success
College Night 2012 was recently held at Milford High School on October 24th. Planning began in May, but all of the hard work paid off. Hundreds of parents and students attended and obtained valuable information from over 70 public and private colleges and universities, trade schools and military branches. Numerous positive comments were received from the participants. They were very impressed with the large turnout.

Milford High School American Sign Language Class
Some of the 75 students currently enrolled in three sections of Milford High Schools American sign language course. MHS students performed a rendition of John Lennon's classic, "Imagine," before the Huron Valley Schools Board of Education on Monday, Nov. 5. They also made a trip to Comerica Park to perform the National Anthem.

Art Students Honored
Last evening, two Milford High School Art students, Justen Hamilton (2012 Grad) and Lindsay Livermore (Senior), were honored for their photography. Digital Photography was a new course added to MHS last year.
The Huron Valley Sinai Hospital selects only 5 art selections every year from all of the school art shows in both Walled Lake Consolidated Schools and also in Huron Valley. This is the second year in a row that MHS has claimed two of the five spots! A huge congratulations to these students on their talent and efforts!

The MHS Theater Company to compete for the first time at the Michigan Thespian/Theater Festival. There were over 900 students from around the state in attendance. MHS students brought home many honors:

Linnea Kynast (Solo Dance) = Excellent (#2)
Rachel Carreri, Nancy Boyd & Linnea Kynast (Trio Musical Theater) = Excellent (#2)
Rachel Carreri (Solo Musical Theatre) = SUPERIOR (#1)
Nancy Boyd & Meghan Griesbeck (Duet Acting Scene) = SUPERIOR (#1)
Senior Meghan Griesbeck was offered over $45,000 in scholarship money from two different universities. Rachel Carreri, Meghan Griesbeck, and Nancy Boyd will join James and Shaun Richardson as representatives in the STATE Honors Choir.

Milford High School automotive students competed against several other high schools and career technical centers from Southeast Michigan in the SkillsUSA Region 2-West Competition, hosted by Washtenaw Community College. The team from Milford did very well, collecting four of the eight state-qualifying positions, more than any other school.
Milford claimed the top two spots in the Electrical Technician category with Mitchell Chafe leading the way as Regional Champion while Jake Jerge finished with runner-up honors. Lukas Ciesielski was second in New Vehicle Preparation, and JD Brancheau also placed second in the Brakes Technician category. By placing first or second in their category, these four students have qualified to participate at the 2013 State Leadership and Skills Conference this spring in Grand Rapids. Also competing for Milford were Cory Wheaton (4th) and Nate Peterson (11th) in the Master Technician category, Shawn Halucha (4th) in the Brakes category and Caleb Morton (6th) in New Vehicle Prep.

Silver Key Award Winner Cassidy Basydlo
Cassidy Basydlo, an MHS Sophomore, was recognized for her acrylic painting, "Fierce Wonder" by the College for Creative Studies and the Scholastic Art Awards Competition. She received a silver key award and represented MHS in this prestigious competition.

Milford Girl's Golf earn Academic Honors
The Milford High School Girl's Golf Team earned Team Academic All-State honors again this year with a team GPA of 3.7. Also, Gabby Brackrog is the Oakland County Champion and was selected to the Division 2 All-State Team

Milford High School Boys Cross County Win
Back to Back (2012, 2013) State Championships
The Milford Boys, led by individual State Champion Brian Kettle and Senior Captain Cody Snavely, captured their 2nd consecutive State Championship. This was their 4th State Championship in the last 10 seasons. Rounding out the top 7 was Chris Housel, Matt Graves, Kevin Black, Jeff Field, and Clinton Caddell.
The Milford Boys Cross Country team finished the season #3 in the National Rankings. Coach Brian Salyers was also honored as Michigan's Boys Cross Country Coach of the year.

The Milford Boys quartet of Brian Kettle, Cody Snavely, Kyle Monagle, and Kevin Black combined to win the 4xMile at the New Balance Outdoor National Meet. Their time was the fastest time ever in the State of Michigan and placed the 6th all time.
Kettle, Snavely, Monagle, and Jon Schwartz came back to repeat as All-Americans in the Distance Medley Relay the next day.

Pink Fridays at MHS
Student Council was able to raise $1,424.00 for the American Cancer Society throughout PINK Fridays at MHS. We had a group of 24 students and a few parents walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk in Detroit.

Milford High School Helps those affected by Hurricane Sandy
Milford High School and the MHS community donated over 150 large garbage bags of blankets, coats, and warm clothes as well as 3 large tubs of canned food for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

MHS Students Jared Jackson and Nadia Hassan created a community wide candle light vigil to show support for the Sandy Hook victims.
One parent writes "As I stood surrounded by Milford students and families, I have never been so proud to be a part of Huron Valley family. Milford High School should be proud to have such fine students leading the way to the future."

Milford High School Celebrates Veteran's Day
Milford High School Student Leadership Group hosted a lunch and honorary assembly for over 50 Veterans. The entire school honored the Vets through a clap in and over 500 students were able to attend the Veterans Day Assembly. The National Anthem and taps were played by Milford High School Students.

Spanish Club Supports Milford Miracles
The MHS Spanish Club was able to fund raise more than $4,100 to help families in need in our community. MHS adopted a total of 15 families (total of 49 family members). Our club members and leadership students went shopping and provided these families with Christmas presents.
