The average ACT score was 21.7 up from a 21.6. The top 25% average ACT score was a 28.0. The top 50% average ACT was a score 25.6 The total AP exams given 674 up from 594 76% score a 3 or higher on the AP exam, 40% of the graduating class took one AP class during their 4 years Highest HVS Academic scores in the district! |
DECA
DECA had another great weekend at the DECA District Conference. Over half of the kids that participated on Saturday will be going on to the State competition in March. Congratulations to the 40 students that made it this year and great job to all of the students that participated this year. In over 18 categories Milford was represented by at least one student. Keep up the great work and good luck to all!
DECA States
Congrats to the 23 Milford High School students that made it to the DECA State Competition this year! Great job to everyone that earned metals for their hard work and dedication to this years competition keep the great work!

OSTC Student of the Month
Congrats to Jessica Dawson on receiving the OSTC-SW Student of the Month. This program honors and celebrates students who are exemplifying the career ready habits that many of the universities/community colleges/technical schools/military and employers are looking for. Every month, each cluster will nominate an AM and a PM student who the instructors best feel represents those characteristics. The students who are nominated, are given a certificate that they can put in their portfolio and a small token (gift card) of our appreciation for going above and beyond.

ARTS
Band Students State Nominations
Congratulations to James Lumsden and Alexis Wickham! Both were nominated as outstanding soloists for the incredibly prestigious Michigan Youth Arts Festival after their performances at MSBOA State Solo & Ensemble on Saturday in Rochester. Alexis, a junior alto saxophonist, was one of only 20 saxophones in the entire state to receive this nomination. James, a senior tubist, was one of only 2 tubes in the entire state to receive this nomination! Keep up the great work! MHS Band
Congratulations to all the band students who participated in MSBOA District IV Solo & Ensemble this weekend at Hartland High School! The students were extremely successful, with 97% of our students earning an “Excellent” or “Superior” rating. Great job to the 50+ MHS students who participated in this event! Keep up with the outstanding performances and good luck at the next event. |

Sunday some of the Milford High school ASL 1 & 2 students volunteered to perform the song "One Day" at the MLK closing ceremony at the Arts center, located Down Town Milford. Center Stage selected to Perform at the Michigan Music Conference
Congratulations to Maryann Lambrecht and Center Stage on being selected to perform at the Michigan Music Conference! This event, held annually in Grand Rapids, is the most important event for music educators and music education in the state! Being selected to perform is an incredible honor, and she and the students are deserving indeed. She puts in many hours well beyond what is expected to make the vocal music program as successful as it is. Congratulations, Maryann and Center Stage! |
Milford Band finished Top 10 at the State Finals
The Milford High School Marching Band finshed 10th place at the State Finals this season improving upon their mark from last year. The Milford High School Marching Band also took 1st Place in Flight II at the Plymouth-Canton Invitational on Saturday, October 11th. The Milford Marching Band also took caption awards for Best Music and Best General Effect. The band's 2014 show is entitled "ReCycle" and features soloists Chelsea Thibodeau, Alexis Wickham, Kimmy Bottenberg, Abby Cameron, and Maddie Wang. The band is led on the field by Drum Major Katie Everett along with percussion section leader Blake Feucht and Color Guard Captains Katherine Beaudoin and Nova Rayner. |
Milford Students bring home Scholarships and Pride
This year we had one MHS senior compete in the 2014 Michigan Thespian Festival College Scholarship. Alexis Zeabari performed a 32-Bar cut and monologue for a large panel of college professors. She was offered over $80,000 in scholarship money. Truly amazing, great job Alexis. Other MHS students also competed in eight different events all receiving Superior or Excellent ratings for their work. Keep up the great work Milford Theater Company.

ATHLETICS
Milford Equestrian Team among the Best in the State
The Milford High School Equestrian team had a season for the record books. After being crowned District and Regional Champions the Mavs moved onto the State Finals in Midland. After the 3 day competition the Mavs finished 6th place in the State of Michigan. Milford had a plethora of state championship riders. Senior, Amelia Krause won the State Championship in trail riding. Ayliffe Allen, junior, won 2 State Championship in saddleseat equitation and saddleseat bareback. Angela Butkovich and Jon Holman teamed up to bring home the 2-person relay State Championship. Reserve State Champion Rides went to Nicole Serra in the hunt seat equitation, Amelia Krause in keyhold race, and Jon Holman/Angela Butkovich in 2 person relay. What a great season! |
Girls Volleyball Claim District Championship
The Girls Volleyball team captured their first District Title since 2007 under first year coach Mary Dent. The girls battled all year long in the KLAA West finishing 2nd to only Hartland. The girls also won the Holt Invitational. Seniors, Jillian Butsovich and Maddie Harris have signed to play at the college level. |
Julia Stevenson Qualifies for Golf State Finals
The Girls Golf Team finished 5th in the very competitive KLAA West Division but showed a ton of improvement over the course of the season. They ended up 7th in the Conference tournament and 14th in the KLAA Association tournament. Junior Julia Stevenson qualified for the State Finals and finished 17th. Regional Champs - 4th Place at State Finals
The Girls Cross Country team put together one of the most successful seasons in a long time. There were many highlights throughout the year but at 4th Place Finish at the State Finals and a Regional Championship had to top the charts. Mallory Barrett led the team as a Conference Champion, Regional Champion, and All-State performer. Nicole Grindling and Madison Paquette were also All-Conference, All- County, All-Region, and All-State. |

Milford HOT team Wins Livonia District
Congrats to the GM Proving Ground-Huron Valley Schools HOT Team and their alliance partners on their Livonia District win and Excellence in Engineering Award. Their points exceeded over 200 in the quarter finals, this is the first time this has happened in Michigan! The team is now qualified for the state championship. The first championship will be held at the Grand Rapids DeltaPlex Arena April 9-11. Good Luck guys and keep up the great work!

Milford High School Pink Week
The Milford High School Pink Week put on by the Milford High School Leadership Class raised over $7,587 towards Breast Cancer awareness. Thank you to all of those who supported the cause whether it was through buying a T-shirt, sponsoring, or just participating throughout the week. The Boys Soccer teams and Football teams were very active participants in the cause. MHS honored Milford Parent, Mary Kraj, as the honorary captain of the Football game vs. Howell. |
Milford Miracles raises over $3,500 for needy families
The Milford High School Spanish club raised a little more than $3,500 and helped 14 families with more than 50 family members this holiday season. Thank you The Joe Kocur foundation for helping us with 10 family members. Another great year for Milford Miracles HOT TEAM starts another successful season Congratulations to the GMPG-HVS Robotics Team, The Heroes of Tomorrow, on their big win at the Waterford District Event (March 6-7) with Team TORC, 2137 from Oxford and Team BUG, 3707 from Brighton. This year's game title is Recycle Rush. The HOT Team finished qualification matches ranked #1 with a 97.41 point Qualification Average (The average score at the event was 48.77). In the quarter finals, our alliance produced the highest score in the tournament, 167points. . |
ALUMNI
Milford Grad and Cross Country Coach win Detroit Free Press Marathon
Milford alumni and current assistant Cross Country Coach Mike Andersen won the Detroit Free Press Marathon in 2:24:58 He was down by more than 2:00 at the 15 mile mark didn't take the lead until the home stretch. Mike is a 2005 Graduate of Milford High School. During his time here he helped the Cross Country team win 2 State Championships (2003 & 2004) and he helped us win two National Relay Championships (2005 4xMile and DMR).
